As you know, Foxy Wine Pocket is a humor blog. So if you’re only here for the funny, you might want to skip this post. It’s okay because I totally get it.
If you’re interested in knowing more about me, however—not just the things that make me laugh, but also the things that make me cry—this is one of those stories.
This is definitely not a humor piece, but it has a happy ending. It’s about making new traditions out of old ones. Finding joy out of sadness.
I’m honored that Scary Mommy will share my story with you. Please give it a read.
Wishing you and yours a very happy holiday. xoxo

On my way!!!
Thank you, my friend. xoxo
Cried a little with this one! Love that you have started the tradition with your kids. Your brother would be proud!
Thank you, Michelle. xoxo
I can certainly see why you resisted buying the Elf on the Shelf for so long. I’m so happy that you were able to replace the bad associations with good ones. And it’s awesome that you made your own rules for the elf you bought. It sounds like your kids will have a blast and may be making good memories of their own.
Even if your brother was starting to have dark thoughts back in the days when you two played with the elf, I’m guessing that those times with you were still happy ones for him. I hope that you are able to treasure those memories with him when you see and hear your kids play.
Beautifully written, as always! xoxo
Thank you so much, Margot, for reading and for the kind words. I really appreciate it. xoxo
I think you gave your children the BEST gift this year, and I think that you gave yourself the best gift too. Memories of cherished moments. Being sad is OK, and letting go a little is OK too. *hugs*
Thank you so very much. xoxo
