At the dinner table last week:
Colin: “Mom, we have a lot in common.”
I look wide-eyed at my husband Dan. He shrugs.
Where is this going? I mean, I know we’re both ridiculously structured and rule-oriented. I know we both have mild social anxiety disorders. I know we both like to point out when other people make mistakes. I know we both say things out loud that are better kept to ourselves. How much is he aware of this? What has he processed? WHERE IS THIS GOING?
Me: “Oh yeah?”
Colin: “Yeah, We can both wiggle our ears. We both like to look at certain sections in Target.”
Me: (Exhale.) “You’re right, Colin. You’re absolutely right.” (Swigs some wine.)

Cutest ever!! Oh my Gosh, don’t you love the ways our kids think?! :)-Ashley
Yes, I do. And sometimes I think their cuteness is their primary survival strategy.
