Me: “Colin, how about we go to the school parking lot this weekend and teach you how to ride a bike. You know, like how we did with Erin?”
Colin: “Hmmm…”
Me: “You know, when you learn to ride your Star Wars bike (that was made for 3-year-olds), we’ll get you a new one. You get to pick it out.”
Colin: “With or without training wheels?”
Me: “Well, without. Your new bike will be too big for training wheels.”
Colin: “No, thank you. There are things I don’t want to do when I’m 7. Riding a bike is one of them.”
Me: “Oh, okay. When do you want to ride a bike?”
Colin: “Maybe when I’m 8.”
Me: “Do you have a whole schedule in your head of when you are going to do things?”
Colin: “Yes. I do.”
Me: “Oh. Would you share it with me?”
Colin: “Maybe when I’m 9.”
